Artist Statement:
These photographs were taken with the focus for myself to appreciate the intricacies of everyday life that I would not necessarily see if you were looking from eye level. As I began this project I realized that by forcing myself to see my familiar places in a new light, I had a new appreciation for not only the places but also how my photographs were being taken. This project has allowed me to relive my childhood; it allowed me to revisit memories I have not thought about in years. My main goal for this project was to be able to represent a place that had a lot of meaning and show that at different perspectives the meaning remains the same even though the picture is not how someone would typically look at that place. This comes back to my overarching reason for the project is to appreciate the details of places we seem to know so well.
